Comorant drying it’s wings

image

Although I am now painting or drawing  every day I rarely finish a picture in one sitting. This one was close taking just two. The photograph is a little dark as the lighting is poor in the shed but you get the general idea. I often see birds just like this one as I drive between Amble and Warkworth, drying their wings off when they have finished fishing in the estuary. I am always reminded of the evolutionary development of birds when I look closely at cormorant or shag, to me there is something very primitive or reptilian about the way they look.

  1. I’ve seen this very bird on the river at Warkworth !! Great picture, love the dripping water, they always look very sinister to me.
